Fitness fashion, mega merch
The UK is a nation of fitness buffs — one in seven of us is a member of the more than 7000 fitness centres across the country. And if you run a gym, there’s certainly money to be made. The UK fitness industry is worth over £5 billion. But in such a big market, it can be difficult to stand out.
London’s brightest smaller fitness brands, like BLOK and Pyscle, are creating their own merchandise to get themselves noticed by the right customers. Their sleek branded crop tops and hoodies are highly covetable — and all over the Instagram fitness community. If you’re looking to amp up your gym’s branding, take a look at these inspirational studios.
BLOK
Dubbed one of the “world’s most Instagrammable gyms”, BLOK offers bespoke fitness classes at its gorgeous bare-brick locations in Clapton and Shoreditch. A recent collaboration with PUMA – printed by ICON – brought its distinctive monochrome BLOK branding out of the gym and into fashion. To find out more about how BLOK built its gym into a lifestyle brand have a read of our interview with founder Reema Stanbury.
Pyscle
Founded as a boutique spinning studio on Mortimer Street in 2014, Pyscle has quickly become one of the city’s most recognisable fitness brands. It has collaborated with Sweaty Betty and LuluLemon on crop tops, vests and leggings, and branded its own reusable coffee cups and water bottles. Another regular client of ICON Printing, we’re hyped to see how its merch range has developed.
Frame
Another gym ICON have provided merch printing for is Frame. With “Move Your Frame” the mantra splashed across many of its colourful, 80s-inspired range, this is fashion that aims to put the fun in fitness. With cross-back ballet tops and leotards adding a drop of elegance too, this is merch made for the street as much as it is for sweat.
Core Collective
With luxury gyms in Kensington and Knightsbridge staffed by some of the country’s top personal trainers, it’s no wonder Core Collective has become a hit with the Made In Chelsea lot. We’ve printed apparel for them as well, and can definitively say that its athleisure range does not only stand out at the gym, but is chic enough to wear to a post-workout brunch too.
Stretch
Simplicity is at the core of these East End yoga studios, run by husband and wife Carl and Sophie – just around the corner from our office. Stretch’s “positive movement” mantra and ‘O’ logo carry the brand identity clearly and calmly.
Seen on Screen
Its dance classes are inspired by classic r’n’b (think Destiny’s Child, Brandy and Missy), and Seen on Screen’s own-brand clothing carries the same New York-style 90s swag.
Sweat It
Sweat It’s weight-based workouts are hardcore (classes include “Guts and Glory” and “Machine Guns”) so its merch had to match. Its racer tees are perfectly designed for flexing your freshly-toned biceps.
Fly LDN
Fly’s yoga classes take place in front of huge HD screens showing serene woodland visuals, and its minimalist leisure wear carries the same earthy vibe.
