Take a look at what’s been turning the heads of Team ICON this week.

The Hackney Peddler

Alex recently discovered The Hackney Peddler – a great little bike shop based in Hackney Downs Studios. The team there are totally committed to getting more people cycling, saving and restoring classic two-wheelers from the UK, France and Holland, in addition to giving their undivided attention to any bits of your bike that may need it. We’d also like to give them props for their lovely logo, which features a friendly, bearded cyclist.

Costumes at Notting Hill Carnival

Last weekend, Alice (along with over a million other revellers) headed out West for this year’s Notting Hill Carnival. The festivities introduced a much-needed splash of colour to the otherwise dreary Bank Holiday weekend. As always, the assembled crowds were impressed and astonished by the cornucopia of creative costumes on display.

We also came across Rice n Peas‘ book ‘Carnival: A Photographic and Testimonial History of the Notting Hill Carnival’. Its authors, Ishmahil Blagrove Jr. and Margaret Busby, chronicle the rich history of the annual event through a captivating collection of stories and photographs, including the image above, taken by Allan “Capitan” Thornhill.

Marimekko Potti Pattern

The work of Finnish lifestyle label Marimekko caught Yasmin’s eye this week. The brand produces punchy, playful print designs that appear across an array of products, ranging from apparel to accessories. Their recently unveiled Autumn 2014 collection is, as expected, brilliant. We’re particularly into the new Potti pattern, as featured on the outfit pictured above. We recommend a trip to any one of Marimekko’s outlets to see the new patterns in person. There is a store in BOXPARK Shoreditch, which is just over the road from the Icon Printing office in London.

At ICON Printing, we like to share the things we’ve found particularly inspiring within the worlds of fashion and design on a weekly basis. Be sure to check out blog for more next week.
