London’s tech start-up scene is rapidly growing, and becoming one of the most exciting ones around. How do you get the many members of this entrepreneurial generation all together in one room? The answer is Ping Pong.

“Yes, we all love Ping Pong” – three members of the London start-up community concluded – “and so do other people like us”. Alex Will of Listora, Michael Acton Smith of Mind Candy and Kathryn Parsons of Decoded launched the Ping Pong Fight Club last month, at the Village Underground in Shoreditch.

64 players from 16 tech companies took part. These included giants like Facebook and Green Man Gaming, as well as start-ups like One Fine Stay.

Icon Printing’s t-shirts, printed specially for the evening helped create a sense of team spirit, and made great souvenirs. No doubt these will be worn again outside of the arena – who doesn’t want to boast about their ping pong skills?

The finalists were Funding Circle’s Rahul Pakrashi and Helene Hjelmvik, with Rahul being crowned the overall champion as the Gladiator’s tune blared through the hall.

As well as logos painted on faces, an appearance from Team GB’s Darius Knight was a highlight of the evening. We look forward to the next round.
